Background Profile

Kurt Rucker came to the department’s attention when a vehicle belonging to Palacio Real hotel guests was impounded and he attempted to intercede on their behalf to retrieve it. Emilia Cruz was his interlocutor in that event. Subsequent events related to the murder of Lieutenant Fausto Inocente brought them together again, after which they formed a romantic relationship.

Rucker has been in Mexico, managing Acapulco’s most luxurious hotel, for a number of years. He speaks fluent Spanish. Due to the adept way he has navigated the growing crime situation in Acapulco, he is an acknowledged expert on hospitality in high threat areas and is frequently asked to give lectures and provide hands-on training.

He is originally from New York state and grew up on a dairy farm. After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served overseas in war zones. He attended college after leaving the military. He previously worked in a number of other hotels, including in Las Vegas. He is a triathlete, participates in Iron Man competitions, and has won several competitions.

Weaknesses: Rucker’s wealth and prominent position in society make him a target for kidnapping and extortion. His relationship with Detective Emilia Cruz transfer those vulnerabilities to her. A move to prevent their marriage was thwarted by Mayor Carlota Montoya Perez.
